Or in my case a baby lemon plant!
I have not posted for while but I really wanted to post about some lemon seeds I planted aaages ago, in fact I think it was the seeds from the lemon i used when I posted about making a honey and lemon tea. So actually looking at that post I can assume it has taken about a month for the seeds to germinate…which is not as long as I thought, but I can be very impatient!
And i have to admit with my impatience and curiosity I dug up one of the seeds a week ago…and to me it looked rotten so I nearly threw the lot away, I am now so relieved I didn’t!
Seeing this sprout not only has been the highlight of my day (I’ve had a rubbish day as not feeling too well!) but it has made me über excited about having a little lemon plant to nurture!
Please do excuse the rather lacklustre Basil plant I have growing in the vintage jug…Ive yet to grow to a decent basil plant! 😀
Dear fellow bloggers, just a quick note to let you know I am now on Facebook as well as on my little blog! For all things vintage, colourful and just generally a little bit of everything that makes me happy you can find me at:
I recently visited a local garden center with my parents and stumbled across a range of jewellery by shrieking Violet Ltd. Being a massive fan of floral’s these instantly appealed (I wanted them all!), but I just love the natural element to them when combined with the modern materials.
This range is beautifully crafted dried flowers arranged within a clear perspex, surrounded by 925 silver. They do necklaces, earring, rings and bracelets, all utterly gorgeous!
Just take a look at the colours! pretty pretty!

Ok, so i really do love flowers, and plants. I love the imagery of flowers in fashion and design and love growing flowers even more. This year i have planted many many seeds and they have come up really well so far. I have grown a few veggies, like beetroot and spinach and salad leaves, and then an array of flowers for the garden and hanging baskets. I figured for a tiny bit of effort it would be alot cheaper than my mum buying already grown plants later on in the season. Also i have some bits growing which i hope will be in flower ready for my sisters wedding in August so that we can give a few plants as favours and generally be used for decoration. It really is a gamble as i think i may have planted them late, so i may be in for a disappointment, but ill share pictures if my flowers make it to the big day! I would share pictures of the green house but Ive made a complete mess of it, and other gardeners would be shocked at the lack of organisation, it literally is a seedling free for all! My sister is also in the fortunate position to be buying her first place with her fiance, so this has given me an extra reason to plant a few more bits this year…I’m not sure she realises yet but her back garden might just be full of Nasturchans and Lavender, and Chocolate mint…Definately a terrible mix aesthetically, but hey i never said i was a garden designer 😀
I pretty much have this choatic approch to anything i try to do, i put it down to the fact i have little energy due to my M.e and so when i do try to do things i try and make up for not being able to do everything i want to, so everything turns into a choatic jumble…which in the long term makes things alot more tiring and stressful, but overall i think gardening can be one of the most relaxing things you can do. I am literally 24 going on 65, but i love what i love, and i love flowers.
Happy mothers day! this year my presents for mum consisted of local charity shop finds, the first being a beautiful stoneware scottish jug, and the second a 1960’s hand crochet dress. I am so happy as the dress fitted her beautifully! I finnshed the jug off with some carnations and a ribbon, and the present with some pretty parrot wrapping paper, and ribbon and a button. Being slightly green fingered, i also plan to take a few cuttings from the carnations, my how thrifty!
I will also take this as an opportunity to introduce my 5 year old cavalier king charles, Mr Bingley, he showed his own affections for mum in his own little way.
Hope all you mothers out there have had a great day! x
